movement & breathwork
To thrive – not just survive.
Movement is a key aspect of both physical and mental wellbeing. At Project Balance we have years of experience in teaching yoga and Pilates and incorporating breathwork into our sessions. But what are they and what could they do for me?
Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Yoga is a holistic approach to physical and mental well-being that offers a wide range of benefits. Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a style that emphasises the synchronisation of breath with a continuous sequence of postures, creating a smooth, flowing, and dynamic practice. It’s sometimes referred to simply as “Vinyasa” or “Flow Yoga.”
How it can help physical health?
- Flexibility: Yoga postures (asanas) can help improve your flexibility by stretching and lengthening muscles.
- Strength: Many yoga poses require the use of body weight for resistance, which can help build and tone muscles.
- Balance: Yoga can improve your balance and stability through various poses that challenge your equilibrium.
- Breathwork: Vinyasa Flow Yoga places a strong emphasis on the connection between breath and movement. Practitioners are instructed to match each movement with a specific inhale or exhale, creating a rhythmic and meditative quality to the practice.
How it supports mental health?
- Stress Reduction: Physical activity stimulates the release of endorphins, which can help reduce stress and boost your mood.
- Mental Clarity: Regular movement can enhance cognitive function, focus, and mental clarity.
- Emotional Balance: Exercise is associated with improved emotional well-being and can help with managing symptoms of anxiety and depression.
